January 17, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

As we begin a new decade, I want to thank you for your ongoing commitment and support of the children, youth and teens that you all help to serve every day at Club locations all across our country.

Additionally, I want to thank you for your commitment and involvement with The Professional Association.

The mission of The Professional Association is to serve as the voice of all Boys & Girls Club career professionals throughout the Boys & Girls Club Movement. The vision of The Professional Association states that as the premier youth development association we promote and provide a pathway for sustained, individual and professional growth ensuring successful leaders in the future. In order for us to make sure that we are achieving both our mission and our vision, it is imperative that we hear from YOU. As we begin 2020, our Board of Directors is committed to finding better ways to serve and support Club Professionals. In order for us to be effective in that delivery, we need your input, feedback and participation. Please feel free to reach out to any one of our Board Members, or myself, to help us make sure that we are fulfilling our mission.

It is a privilege to serve as the President of The Professional Association. And, like the years of my youth as a Club Member, having been a member of TPA during my career has afforded me many opportunities to grow and develop, thanks to thoughtful mentors and colleagues who were committed to helping others. For me, this year marks the beginning of my 38 th year as a Club Professional. As a new year begins, I am committed to ensuring that we continue a long and honored tradition of serving as an advocate and the voice for Boys & Girls Club Professionals.

Now, perhaps more than ever, there is a tremendous need to have in place a group that focuses on and advocates for standards of employment and commensurate benefits for professionals working within our Movement. That group is The Professional Association.

I want to thank Steve Wurm for his leadership the past two years as our Board President, as well as all of those who have served as Board Member and Board Liaisons for our National Board.

I am proud to be part of this association and the purpose it stands for and will encourage other professionals to join and work together in serving our mission.
